Personal therapy within rehabilitation is one of the most common forms of therapy for drug and alcohol addiction. Nearly every rehab facility gives personal therapy from accredited advisors, psychologists, psychiatrists, and/or psychotherapists. Addiction counselors in addition provide therapy at several treatment centers, giving input on the different kinds of therapy being used for each individual client.
Using one on one therapy is particularly valuable for rehabilitation since it enables the client to find out the root concerns that led to his or her dependency. Conversing with a psychologist provides the client an opportunity to open up with regards to any symptoms of depression, stress and anxiety, past traumas, and family hardship within a protected and private environment. Professional counselors help the client discuss everything that could have been an issue in their dependency. Learning about these issues can help result in a productive recovery.
Group therapy sessions and instruction are important parts of any substance treatment program. But one on one therapy in rehabilitation is most likely the key to dealing with anyone’s dependency.
